Good Regulations = Easy Taxes
It should only take you 5 minutes to file your taxes. It takes the average American 13 hours. Billion dollar corporations and anti-government anti-tax crusaders work tirelessly to ensure we spend more money and time on taxes than we need to. WTF.
The government knows a lot about you. They know how much you make, who paid you, and how much you should be paying in taxes. Through an optional system called “return-free filing,” the IRS could provide you with a pre-filled tax return the average American would review for 5 minutes and approve. Instead,
Other countries, including Denmark, Chile, Sweden, and Spain, make “return-free filing” available to their people. In Estonia (of all places), 95% of taxpayers handle their taxes online and most pay with just one click. The benefit (time savings) is straight-forward and there is no risk.
Return-free filing is:
- OPTIONAL. Filers can alternatively file manually by hand or using a third-party company.
- SAVES PEOPLE TIME. Filers spend 99.34% less time filing taxes.
We spend 13 hours on taxes because corporations like H&R Block and Intuit profit when they can make filing taxes easier than it would be without them. With “return-free filing,” we would not need them. We spend 13 hours on taxes because anti-government and anti-tax crusaders fear if taxes were easier to file there will be less opposition to taxes.
The Facts:
1, You could spend less time on filing taxes.
2, Big businesses and people who do not like taxes and regulations keep that from being the case.
3, These businesses and anti-government crusaders are MANIPULATIVE and LIE to further their interests. It is good to understand facts. Most of these entities cannot be trusted.
The Take-A-Way: Good regulations that can save you time, money, and maintain your freedom of choice are available if we demand them. As Joe Bankman, Stanford professor and “return-free filing” expert says, the decisions we make on these issues are about “what kind of government you want.” We should seek a government that works for the people.
